SAN FRANCISCO, June 18, 2005 /PR Newswire/ -- Equbits announced today that they have been awarded a Phase I SBIR Grant by the National Science Foundation. The SBIR Program funds small businesses to stimulate technological innovation and thus strengthening the role of small business in meeting Federal R&D needs. This research will further develop Equbits software engine's ability to bring new levels of interpretability to non-linear predictive modeling methods, including Support Vector Machines.

One of the challenges faced by computational chemists is improving the accuracy and interpretability of models. Receiving the grant validates Equbits technical approach and thought leadership in applied non-linear modeling technology to pharmaceutical drug discovery. Equbits advisors Professor Trevor Hastie and Dr. Isabelle Guyon will lend support in advancing Equbits' capabilities in this area.
