We are the MSN Data Sciences Team. MSN is responsible for providing a network of Internet services, including MSN 9, MSN Messenger for Windows, Hotmail, and MSN.com.

The MSN Data Sciences Team is front and center in providing customer and business insight that help define our products and customer marketing strategies and planning.

We're looking for an experienced data analyst who can apply advanced statistical methods to derive knowledge to a wide set internal and external data sources to support MSN product planning, product marketing and go to market activities. This candidate will have a proven track record extracting customer and business insight from large complex data sets to help understand customer behaviour, trends and long term value.

The successful candidate will be responsible for scripting and prototyping, including automating common data tasks, developing basic data models and analyzing the results using standard statistical software (SQL, SAS, SPSS, Clementine, etc). The ability to translate these findings into crisp, powerful business insights, in writing and in face to face presentations is fundamental to this job.

Disciplined analytical rigor, the ability to select the optimal analytical methodology choice along with cross-group networking skills are also a must have for the successful candidate.

We're also looking for the following aadditional knowledge and experience:

  • Bachelors degree required (Masters preferred) in a numerate discipline
  • 5+ years experience in a business & marketing research environment
  • An in-depth knowledge of OLAP reporting
  • Working knowledge of relational databases
  • Ability to map business objectives to real solutions
  • Good Data preparation and manipulation skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience in Internet marketing or working with Internet data a plus
