As Director of Providian's Marketing Information Services group, you will be responsible for the development of new systems and ad-hoc analysis to support Providian's direct marketing campaigns for Customer Acquisitions. The ideal candidate must possess a blend of business and relational database knowledge, excellent organization skills and a "hands on" ability to support various internal customers creating and managing Direct Mail, Telemarketing, and E-mail campaigns. You must enjoy working with different groups, specifically Marketing, Analytics, Credit and Finance to understand their initiatives and find innovative and efficient solutions.

In this position the ideal candidate will be managing the technical development and operations of several new marketing programs developed through Providian's Prospect Database. The candidate will be the main interface with Marketing, Operations and various vendors for these programs.

Responsibilities include:

  • Identify business requirements and develop technical specifications for the design and implementation of database marketing systems to support new business initiatives.
  • Streamline and document production processes for new initiatives and custom projects.
  • Implement and oversee audit steps to ensure the accuracy of all programming and specific logic used to generate campaigns.
  • Perform ad-hoc analysis in SQL and SAS to support new Marketing/Credit initiatives and improve effectiveness of direct mail acquisition channel.
  • Manage day to day production processes for new initiatives.
  • Work with internal customers to understand business initiatives and document business requirements for Prospect Database development.
  • Manage the vendor relationships related to your programs.
Qualifications:

The qualified candidate will have 4+ years of credit card or related financial services experience, and a BS/MS in math, statistics, operation research, computer science or quantitative field. Candidate must have strong knowledge of relational databases and advanced experience in SQL code, especially in very large Oracle environments. The candidate must have excellent analytic, problem solving, written communication, and presentation skills. Experience with SAS a definite plus. Candidate must have experience in the production and management of direct mail campaigns and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Must be independent and interested in taking on increasing levels of responsibility.
