Minimum Requirements:
Position requirements are a graduate degree in statistics, biostatistics or related fields (Ph.D. preferred), two years of experience in the job offered or in the related occupation of data mining technology, which shall include experience in
(i) designing, developing and applying data mining technologies;
(ii) developing complex predictive computational models to extract hidden patterns from diverse data sources; and
(iii) designing, documenting and implementing complex algorithms to solve data mining problems.

Details:
Analysis Applications, Research and Technologies (A2RT) team in GSK Statistics and Quantitative Sciences (SQS) are applying their technical data exploration skills to variety of projects in drug discovery and development while pursuing applied research in prediction modeling. The projects range from data mining aggregated clinical trial data to biomarker profiling of integrated biology data from various platform technologies including genomics and proteomics.

Principal data exploration scientist develops, evaluates and implements novel data mining methods to extract knowledge from the oncology biomarker data generated during the different stages of the oncology Drug Discovery and Development (DDD) process;

  • integrating medical knowledge with data analysis technologies;
  • analyze and interpret data within the drug discovery context;
  • develop unique applications for problem solving;
  • deploy complex algorithms to solve analytical problems using non-traditional techniques derived from the artificial intelligence and statistical fields;
  • create computational models that explain and help to understand the interaction between oncology biomarkers, drugs, diseases and biological hosts using diverse data sources;
  • collaborate with Genetics Research, Medical Development and Biomedical Data Sciences teams in order to effectively utilize oncology biomarker data and establish statistical methods and processes to effectively analyze, interpret and report oncology biomarker data for drug development;
  • enable biomarker decision making for study development based on compound and disease state; manage projects involving the application of unique technologies to solve problems in DDD process;
  • and prepare, present and publish relevant materials; demonstrated ability to work well in a diverse multi-disciplinary team environment.
