Yahoo! Search Marketing, a division of Yahoo! Inc., offers essential marketing services for companies doing business online. The group's search-based products and tools help businesses connect with highly motivated customers.

As a member of the Strategic and Product Marketing organization, this position will provide analytical and strategic support to the respective Yahoo! sales and marketing teams. This role will serve in a leadership role to identify and develop insights driving key market strategies for product and service offerings by Yahoo! Search Marketing. The ideal candidate will have hands-on technical marketing with experience conducting marketing or media mix optimization activities while with large brands and/or ad agencies.

Responsibilities:

  • Engage with the Yahoo! Search Marketing teams to develop strategic insights based on detailed analytics of historical marketing spend and ROI across channels and campaigns.
  • Work with advertisers to gain insights to life time values, marketing effectiveness, trends and interdependencies in order to develop corresponding strategies to optimize effectiveness.
  • Employing statistical methods to model the impact of advertising, pricing, merchandising, competitive environment, seasonality and related factors on sales, demand or brand value.
  • Ability to synthesize findings to work with sales and marketing teams to develop best practice media mix models to enable maximum ROI against business goals.
  • Work with other members of the product marketing team to identify findings, inform key Yahoo! Search marketing teams and transform into product requirements that could enhance future versions of applications and toolsets.
Qualifications:
  • 6-9 years in predictive modeling, business statistics, media planning, customer data mining or similar quantitative field.
  • BS and MS in business, mathematics, statistics, engineering or applied mathematics. Candidates with a PHD a plus.
  • Technical Proficiency - Technical experience in marketing, scenario planning tools, database and enterprise-level analytics.
  • Critical thinking - Ability to absorb and articulate analysis of large databases succinctly and provide actionable recommendations through verbal/written presentations or documentation.
  • Communication - Effective ability to express and convey ideas, tasks, and plans in both written and verbal form.
  • Highly motivated and a self-starter identifying and addressing opportunities to improve business performance.
  • Proficiency with Excel, Access and SPSS or SAS statistical tools are essential. Knowledge of SAP, Oracle, Business Objects and/or related data mining tools desirable.
