Subject: Research internship at HP Labs on data mining and personalization

HP Labs is offering a summer internship to work on research related to data mining for personalization. The research is directed towards exploiting user centric data, reflecting user behaviors, interests, purchasing patterns, etc., to help recommend information of interest, while taking great care of user privacy. The work will encompass both the development of user behavior models as well data exploration.

HPL is looking for an intern with a strong interest in working with large, real-world data sets and discovering new methods and approaches to understanding and distilling the data for the purpose of personalization.

Qualifications:
PhD student in data mining, machine learning, quantitative marketing, or related field Experience working with large datasets Strong proficiency in SQL.
