We are currently seeking candidates for an Analytic Science Manager position for our R&D Unit in our San Rafael, CA office.

Roles/Responsibilities:

Plans, develops, coordinates and directs work done on analytical projects of major scope and importance; produces and/or reviews project design, project specifications, sampling plan and characteristic specifications;

Designs specifications for programmers; examines output for conformity with expectations; investigates unusual totals or patterns, draws conclusions and determines next steps;

Establishes project schedules, work flow and check points; guides progress of project through various milestones and support groups to ensure conformity to established deadlines and contractual agreements; makes the ultimate decisions on analytic projects;

Ensures the maintenance of proper project documentation; writes or oversees the production of deliverables;

Conceives, plans and conducts investigations and experiments in uncharted areas;

Invents new methodologies or approaches to problems and translates them into improvements in Fair Isaac products or tools;

Creates and develops new processes, prototype materials or tools for in-house use; creates and revises procedures, facilities and operating structures to make major improvements in production capability;

Develops new products without a clear, predefined context; develop the production steps to provide an feasible solution; work with business developers/product marketers to develop deliverables and marketing materials; track results such as profit margin and customer acceptance;

Major responsibility for at least one of the following: doing original work in unexplored analytic areas; developing production processes or prototype materials to make developments better, faster and realizing substantial cost reductions; or developing new products without a clear, predefined context.

Serves as mentor and fosters the career development of different level professional staff members.

Experience/Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in the fields of statistics, operations research, applied mathematics, industrial engineering or related fields; Master or PhD in the fields of statistics, operations research, applied mathematics, industry engineering or related fields;

At least 5 years of professional experience in applying statistics, mathematics and operations research techniques to the solution of practical problems o Segmentation/Clustering o Predictive modeling o Decision analysis

Knowledge of the Consumer Credit, Pharmaceutical or Healthcare industries, or retail industries.

Principles and practices of project management, work scheduling and supervision;

Strong problem solving and analytical ability;

Excellent communication skills with a team orientated attitude;

A statistical thinker and quick learner

Skill to:

Lead the analytic modeling process. Oversee solution execution, data sampling, variable design, segmentation analysis, and development of statistical models.

Work with clients and internal market units to understand the business objectives and constraints and deliver custom and innovative solutions.

Conduct meetings to present, interpret and justify, decisions to clients. Ensure success criteria are met and stakeholders are satisfied. Advise clients on selection, use and tracking of models/strategies.

Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with people at all levels of Fair Isaac and client organizations; build morale and team spirit among analytic team members.

Communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing with persons having diverse backgrounds of knowledge and experience; conduct meetings and make professional presentations; teach complex concepts and explain technical material to non-technical users.

Conceive and initiate projects; improvise and invent solutions in new, non-standard and unstructured situations; work independently, retaining flexibility in working methods, schedules and travel.

Adjust to a fluctuating work load; withstand pressure of deadlines, operating problems and interpersonal tensions.

Organize and manage time and resources; establish priorities and coordinate work on many projects simultaneously.

Examine data and detect possible problems; create and test hypotheses about causes and cures;

Extract, from a broad background of technical knowledge, the specific techniques applicable to the solution of a given problem; switch from one kind of solution strategy to another to determine the approach best suited to a given problem.

Manage and mentor other professionals.

Represents the company at various national and international conferences; promotes the company through speaking at meetings, writing articles and/or being interviewed by the media.
