Simba Technologies Set to Support Microsoft Excel 2007 Pivot Tables MDX Language

Vancouver, BC September 19, 2006 Simba Technologies Inc., the leader in OLE DB for OLAP, XML for Analysis and MDX Language software development kits (SDKs) and data connectivity solutions, announced today that it is working to add support for Microsofts upcoming Excel 2007 Pivot Tables within its acclaimed SimbaProvider SDK. SimbaProvider is used by independent software vendors worldwide for building MDX Language, OLE DB for OLAP (ODBO) and XML for Analysis (XMLA) connectivity within their products.

Microsoft Excel Pivot Tables is widely regarded as the most pervasive business intelligence (BI) application used by businesses today. Excel Pivot Tables functionality is used to query data and generate reports using the MDX Language on a variety of data by business users across the globe.

Microsofts upcoming Excel 2007 Pivot Tables incorporates even greater BI functionality. Most notably for BI will be Microsofts use of advanced MDX Language to support new and enhanced query and reporting functionality within the product.

SimbaProvider SDK allows independent software vendors (ISVs) to have Excel Pivot Tables connect to their OLAP or multi-dimensional data source through OLE DB for OLAP and the MDX Language. The upcoming version of Simbas SDK will work with Excel 2007 Pivot Tables out of the box, when Microsoft expects to release the next version of its Office Suite in early 2007.
