Summary: Our strategy defines a number of steps for building sales growth, including innovative direct marketing programs to deliver awareness, lead generation & Sales support. Effective database support is a key dependency for executing this strategy, and this role will be central to meeting program aims and objectives. The main areas of responsibility will include:

Responsibilities:

  • Data Consultancy: combining an understanding of marketing strategy with in-depth knowledge of CBS data sources (data warehouse, other internal systems, and external data) this individual will act as a database consultant to Marketing Program Managers.
  • Data Analysis: create targeting & list strategies to meet the objectives of marketing programs pro-actively adding value where ever possible by identifying enhancements and potential within the data, and by suggesting innovative data solutions to marketing challenges
  • Campaign Evaluation: manage the measurement of mail and telemarketing marketing programmers, providing evaluation to Marketing managers, and adding value by interpreting results and identifying opportunities for future development. Create a framework for testing variations in creative, offer, targeting etc. Experience un the use of DNIS numbers to track campaign response is a very strong plus.
  • External List Acquisition: develop a list strategy & source suitable external data sources, lists etc. as required to meet the on-going requirements of CBS direct marketing strategies
  • List Generation: run counts, create reports and generate extracts from the appropriate data sources (both internal and external), including management of external processes needed to deliver 'ready to execute' lists.
  • Vendor Management: act as a valued consultant to marketing managers using external Marketing vendors to ensure best data practice is followed at all times.
Qualifications:
  • The individual should be able to demonstrate a combination of technical database expertise and an in-depth understanding of direct marketing strategic planning, preferably in B2B environment.
  • Five to seven years direct/database marketing experience in a supplier of database marketing services, the database arm of a marketing agency, or an equivalent role in a technology company.
  • Experience of working with senior marketing executives in a data consultancy role on the development of contact and program strategies
  • BA (or equivalent) required, preferably with a strong numeric component such as Statistics, Marketing, Psychology etc.
  • Strong skills in the use of an Enterprise level data extraction tool (Brio/Hyperion, or a statistical analysis package (such as SPSS or SAS) for data extraction and analysis. Familiarity with one of the leading RDBMS products is an advantage. Experience of Data Mining techniques including Regression, Factor & Cluster analysis & CHAID preferable
  • Advanced EXCEL skills are essential, good MS Access and Crystal Report Writer skills are an advantage. An excellent grasp of state of the art marketing data processing principles and processes

Prefer a dbase marketing practitioner, experienced in developing analysis to drive customer contact strategies and executing innovative direct marketing programs. The successful candidate will be responsible for working with senior CBS associates to deliver data consultancy, analysis and support, enabling the business to initiate impactful direct marketing programs that meet demanding performance objectives.
