Subject: Austin, TX: Optimization Software Engineer at Zilliant
Responsibilities:
This individual will be responsible for development of Zilliant’s
Price Optimization Engine. Responsibilities will include design,
writing product features, fixing bugs, and supporting internal
customers.
The major roles and responsibilities of this position include:
- Design and implementation of complex numerical software based on requirements and use case documentation.
- Collaboration with product management and the pricing science team to help determine product direction.
- Research and investigation of 3rd party numerical software to determine what techniques are possible and the best solution available.
- Support of pricing scientists and solutions engineers on customer deployments.
- Collaboration with other developers, QA engineers, technical writers, and solutions engineers on the design and implementation of software.
- Develop unit tests and execute integration tests to ensure delivery of high quality software to our QA team and customers.
- Definition of tasks and work breakdown structure for development activities to support a predictable release schedule
Requirements:
- A Master’s Degree in Operations Research with either an undergraduate degree in Computer Science or at least 3-4 years of industry software development experience
- Experience with mathematical software such as CPLEX and high level modeling languages such as GAMS or AMPL.
- Strong familiarity with mixed integer programming (MIP) techniques.
- Experience with statistical modeling using linear and logistical regression techniques.
- Experience in data mining techniques is desired.
- Experience with the following technologies is desired
- SAS or R programming languages
- Relation database systems such as Oracle or Microsoft SQL Server
- Java server side technologies such as Hibernate, Spring, JDBC.
- Experience utilizing a configuration management system and leveraging a nightly build environment and unit test frameworks
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Planning, scheduling, and coordination skills necessary to commit and meet aggressive project milestones
- Exposure to Agile development methodologies like Scrum and XP as well as other methodologies such as RUP (Rational Unified Process).
