Job Description:
NetRatings seeks a smart, motivated Senior Data Analyst with demonstrable analytical capabilities, strong technical proficiency, and an eagerness and ability to work closely with one of its largest clients. The principal role of the Senior Data Analyst is to work closely with the client to understand its business requirements, translate those requirements into a sound research approach, and then design the SQL queries that will extract the needed data from NetRatings' root data sets. To do this effectively requires a strong understanding of NetRatings' diverse set of products (NetRatings will provide training), strong SQL programming skills, and an inherent ability to solve problems and communicate with internal and external clients. For the right candidate, this will be a challenging, rewarding opportunity to work closely with some of the smartest people in the Internet industry as they endeavor to change the way that consumers use the Internet for work, learning, and entertainment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Listen to, and understand the business context behind a diverse array of research questions from a very sophisticated client
• Translate business needs into technical solutions often delivered to non-technically oriented internal or external clients
• Develop a firm understanding of client's business and build relationships with key users within the organization
• Extract, report and analyze data from Nielsen//NetRatings' measurement panels and other sources of data

Experience

• 4+ years professional experience
• 2+ years SQL programming
• 2+ years experience translating business needs into technical solutions for non-technically oriented internal or external clients

• Superior analytical, problem solving, and organization skills.
• Ability to communicate with external clients in a consultative manner
• Ability to develop technical requirements to address specific business needs
• Ability to communicate effectively (both written and orally) with both sales and technical staff
• Understanding of the underlying technical infrastructure of the Internet
• Strong interpersonal relationship building skills

• Love for complex problem-solving exercises
• Ability to work effectively with minimal day-to-day supervision
• Desire to use data to perform business analysis
• Interest in the Internet and Internet-related businesses
