Strategic Data Solutions (SDS)
is the division within Yahoo! that is
responsible for collecting and monetizing this vast amount of
data. SDS' mission is to create value to consumers and marketers by
delivering a consumer-centric data platform and insights services that
maximize user engagement and enable innovative marketing solutions.
Yahoo! Data Mining and Research (DMR) Group
is part of SDS and we’re looking for people who Think Big in the world of data mining.
Data Mining Research Engineer
Job Responsibilities:
We're seeking results-oriented data mining researchers who want to
solve real problems and have a direct business impact. This individual
enjoys formulating problems based on customer needs, selecting,
modifying and/or building appropriate tools or methodologies, and
providing true end-to-end solutions for diversified challenging data
mining and data research projects.
We encourage our team members to stay abreast of novel academic work
and seek patents and/or publish work when appropriate. This is an
exciting opportunity to apply your data mining skills to the 10
terabytes of data that Yahoo! captures every day. The following
criteria will be used in finding the ideal candidate:
Minimum Job Qualifications:
- 5+ years experience in exploratory data analysis and data mining process
- Demonstrated expertise and desire to work hands-on in analyzing and modeling large industrial data sets
- Proven knowledge of data mining and machine learning methods and tools
- Master’s degree in CS or related field
- Software development skills (C/C++, Perl, Java, SQL, etc.)
- Excellent communication skills and ability to understand business requirements
- Team spirit and ability to aggressively execute independently
Preferable Job Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Data Mining, Machine Learning, Information Retrieval, Statistics, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field
