Job Description:
As Research Analyst in the R&D group, you will join a select team dedicated to theoretical advancement of methodologies and development of new products and methods that will enhance NextAction's services and provide new cutting edge tools for our clients. While research is an important component of the role, your success will be entirely based upon your ability to deliver solutions. Responsibilities will include:

  • Evaluating current methods from a theoretical and practical perspective, and suggesting modifications or changes that would create improvements in performance or efficiency.
  • Researching new products and methods by using statistical and probabilistic theories and practices, and applying them to the direct marketing setting.
  • Emphasis will be on development of theoretical concepts demonstrating opportunities, developing theoretically-based but practically implementable solutions, and statistically testing ideas for proof of concept.
Skills and Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in statistics or similarly quantitative field, or bachelor's degree with exceptional experience in probability, statistics, mathematics, or related/similar topics required.
  • Experience with statistical software is required - experience with R or SAS, and Excel is required; additional software experience is a plus.
  • Ability to work in PC environment required - proficient with MS Office applications. Experience with Linux/UNIX a big plus.
  • Experience with very large data sets in a consumer marketing environment preferred
  • Strong database skills, including exposure to SQL (PL/SQL Oracle is a plus).
  • Programming experience in scripting or "base" languages is a plus, particularly SQL, C/C++, PERL, or related languages.
  • Direct marketing industry experience not necessary.
