The Manager Marketing Forecasting & Analysis will be a key contributor to value-added analyses and subscriber forecast that enable Netflix to grow as quickly as possible while achieving EPS goals. He / She will be part of the Marketing Forecasting & Analysis team reporting to the Director, and working with the Senior Manager on a variety of projects. The Manager will have exposure to many aspects of Marketing, and work in cross-functional teams with Marketing channel managers, Consumer Insights, Financial Planning & Analysis, and Business Intelligence.

Netflix employees are fully-formed adults who have a direct impact on the Company's bottom line. The Manager Marketing Forecasting & Analysis will lead projects from start to finish, interact with senior management, and have visibility to the firm's strategic agenda.

The Manager will be based in Silicon Valley at the Company's headquarters in Los Gatos, CA.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Manager will be responsible for independently structuring and performing analyses and generating insights related to Netflix's marketing programs for new subscriber acquisition and existing subscriber retention. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Build and maintain forecast models using a number of methodologies and test assumptions to improve accuracy
    • Structure and create predictive models based on internal and external data
    • Perform statistical analyses to segment customers based on a number of characteristics
    • Refine and streamline historical trend-based models
  • Research, track, and generate insights in competitive entertainment landscape and overall market trends
    • Generate key questions and hypotheses
    • Utilize external and internal sources to develop understanding of consumer behavior and competition
    • Develop thoughtful and actionable recommendations in terms of strategies and tactics
    • Be creative in terms of analyzing emerging trends and new markets
  • Lead and support value-added analyses
    • Identify critical questions to answer to optimize spend and maximize profit for the company
    • Analyze and estimate impact of marketing initiatives on subscriber acquisition and retention
    • Understand and refine lifetime value analyses to better guide spending and investment decisions
    • Evaluate campaign efficiency and inter-dependency
  • Create and maintain a set of tracking tools, models and reports that allow him / her to track key metrics and report to the Marketing team and senior management on a regular basis
QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of experience in a highly analytical environment performing complex financial and statistical analyses, and generating data-driven insights. Experiences in marketing analytics for consumer-facing companies, financial institutions, or subscription businesses are highly valued. Qualified candidates are likely to have held analytical roles in business intelligence, quantitative marketing, management consulting, and investment or industry research.

The successful candidate should have a strong track record of identifying key issues and questions, performing analyses efficiently and independently, and communicating findings in a clear and concise way. He / She must thrive in a fast-paced environment, enjoy working with "super smart" people, possess an entrepreneurial spirit, focus on generating results, and exhibit the highest personal and professional standards of integrity and ethics.

  • Comfortable with conducting quantitative and qualitative analyses processing a large amount of consumer and operational data
  • Extensive experience with data mining, forecasting, and statistical analytics tools, such as SAS, SQL, SPSS, Microstrategy, MS Access
  • Expert user of MS Excel (pivot tables and macros) and PowerPoint
  • Effective communication in both one-on-one and formal presentation settings
  • Understanding of financial statements and basic accounting principles
  • Bachelors degree in economics, finance, marketing, statistics or other technical subjects from a top-tier university; Advanced degree is a preferred
