Dow AgroSciences seeks a Computational Biologist to assist in data mining and development of software for biological applications. The successful candidate will join the R&D Operational Excellence function and will work closely with scientists in the company's Plant Genetics & Biotechnology R&D organization.

Key job responsibilities include:

  • Development of software for biological data mining applications, including data integration, data analyses' automation, implementation of machine learning and statistical algorithms.
  • Development of user interfaces.
  • Act as a resource for scientists needing help developing software to increase their productivity.
  • This role also contains a research component related to extending computational biology methods to meet Dow AgroSciences' needs.
Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in computer sciences, bioinformatics, computational biology, or closely related field is required.
  • Outstanding programming skills are required. Proficiency with JAVA, Access, SQL Server, and SQL is expected.
  • Bioinformatics training is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication skills are essential.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with both laboratory and field scientists is critical for success.
