Connecticut College is actively seeking to strengthen its computer science program and continue to develop its growing interdisciplinary collaborations between computer science and biology. The College invites applications for a tenure-track position at the assistant (preferred) or associate/full professor level to begin in August, 2009. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Computer Science or related field, a strong commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching, an active research program, and the potential to conduct research in a liberal arts setting. Candidates with research interests in bioinformatics, computational biology, biologically inspired computing, data mining, or any area of computer science that has ties to biology are preferred, but applicants with expertise in other areas of CS are also welcome. Successful candidates must have the ability to participate in the ongoing development of a strong computer science program, which includes curricular expansion, a robust student research component, a commitment to diversity, and an interest in interdisciplinary collaborations and applications. Connecticut College educates students to put the liberal arts into action as citizens in a global society. For tenure-track faculty, the normal teaching load is five courses annually. Salary is competitive. Tenure-track faculty receive a research stipend for their first two summers and a semester's leave at full salary after their third year if they are reappointed for the full probationary period.
