Job description:
The Manager Consumer Insights will have the opportunity to drive marketing strategy for the Apparel and Accessories categories at HSN. This role will require someone who is ready to provide strategic consumer insight leadership for these focus categories. This role will work closely with business units throughout HSN, but especially merchandising, brand management, planning, and programming. The successful candidate should have a proven track record of analyzing and integrating information from disparate sources toward the development of robust, clear and actionable insights/recommendations, preferably in a retail environment.

Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

1. Serve as the consumer insights primary resource for the Apparel and Accessories categories of HSN. This will require the ability to translate category/customer business issues into research objectives and strategic business questions in order to develop research projects that provide actionable insights to drive increased sales and improved customer experience.

2. Deploy consumer insights across the organization. Use primary and secondary consumer research, along with database analytics, to educate the organization about consumer attitudes and behaviors.

3. Track and understand the competitive retail environment and marketplace dynamics to understand understanding performance, strategic direction and tactics used by competition. Identify implications and opportunities for the HSN business.

4. Building relationships and internal knowledge base is integral to success in this role. It requires partnering with analytics, merchandising, brand management, planning, and programming. Quickly gaining an understanding of focus categories and key business issues is paramount in gaining traction in this role.

Minimum Requirements:

  • B.S./B.A. required, MBA/ Master's Degree preferred.
  • 5+ years experience in consumer research or category management, preferably in a retail environment.
  • Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research techniques/ methods
  • Familiarity with syndicated market measurements data (NPD, etc.)
  • Need to be flexible, entrepreneurial, and have a high tolerance for ambiguity.
  • Strong project management skills and detail oriented
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Extensive knowledge of MS Office applications
Preferred Requirements:
  • MBA strongly preferred
  • Experience with or knowledge of SAS, SQL preferred, but not necessary
