ACM SIGKDD Innovation Award One SIGKDD Innovation Award will be given to one individual or one group of collaborators who has made significant technical innovations in the field of Data Mining and Knowledge Discovery that have been transferred to practice in significant ways, or that have significantly influenced direction of research and development in the field. See www.sigkdd.org/awards.php. The previous SIGKDD Innovation Award winners were Rakesh Agrawal, Jerome Friedman, Heikki Mannila, Jiawei Han, Leo Breiman, Ramakrishnan Srikant, and Usama M. Fayyad, and Raghu Ramakrishnan.
ACM SIGKDD Service Award The previous SIGKDD Service Award winners were Gregory Piatetsky-Shapiro, Ramasamy Uthurusamy, Usama Fayyad, Xindong Wu, the Weka team led by Ian Witten and Eibe Frank, Won Kim, and Robert Grossman. Service Award Broader Scope - Data Mining Contribution to Society In 2009, we will expand the scope of SIGKDD Service Award to consider also service and contribution to society at large, such as using data mining to improve medical care, education, or similar applications.
Nomination Process
Each nomination should be co-sponsored by at least 3 people. Nominations should include a 1-2 page statement justifying the nomination, and other supporting materials. All communications will be via email.
