Subject: Redmond, WA: Software Development Engineer for Live Search

Are you an experienced tester looking for an opportunity to make a large impact on a $600MM+ business and one of Microsoft’s key bets? Want to work on a project with a ship cycle measured in months instead of years? The Live Search Core Experience test team may be the place for you. This team has grown significantly over the past year, but we are still growing fast and need qualified SDETs and SDET leads to come in and quickly contribute to our established processes and our highly innovative feature set. Our competition is top-notch (perhaps you've heard of them?), but we are confident we will succeed. Come be a part of Microsoft's next big win!

This specific job deals with the technical side of web frontends, including shared services, server performance, web security (XSS, DDOS, etc.), content delivery networks, and more. Things get more interesting when you consider that we have to coordinate all of this across many partners and datacenters, all while maintaining exceptional availability. If you love the technical aspects of the web, you’ll be hard pressed to find a better fit than this. There are great opportunities for advancing the reliability, performance, and site protection capabilities of Search. In this role you will not only drive improvements in the production, you will also be working to raise the bar of the test team by mentoring and teaching existing SDETs on the team. Use your experience to your benefit, showing a strong impact on the productivity and capability of the team.

Successful candidates will find creative solutions to both end-user and testing problems. You are also someone who enjoys keeping up on the latest testing approaches and recognizing when they are useful in your work. Candidates should relish the opportunity to work on bleeding-edge search technologies and be able to keep up with a rapidly changing technology base. We are a fast-moving team, so you must have strong multitasking skills and be able to balance work on multiple areas simultaneously.

  • Excellent technical and communication skills,
  • strong customer focus,
  • working well with other teams,
  • shipping experience,
  • coding experience in C# or C/C++, and
  • a strong background in test case design and automation are also required.
5 or more years experience and a BS/MS in Computer Science or related technical area preferred.
