|Some scientists worry that machines will become smarter than humans (so-called "Singularity") and suggest limits on AI research to prevent this. Others think that AI super-intelligence will help humans ("Singularity" will be good). Your opinion: [144 votes total]|

|Singularity will be good: machines will become smarter than humans, but will be our friends (15)||10%|
|Singularity will be bad: machines will become smarter than humans and will pose a danger, so some AI research should be banned now (6)||4%|
|Singularity will happen and we can't control it: machines will become smarter than humans, but it is impossible to ban AI research worldwide (63)||44%|
While it may be the case that individual singularities will occur (e.g. there may be a computer smarter than Ray Kurzweil), I don't think that all humanity will suffer defeat. Unlike Deep Blue, which had a specific functionality, adaptive and evolving strategic thinking have taken a very long time to develop and will take a very long time to implement. By then, we, or some of us, may have advanced yet again.
