To justify its huge valuation of $70 billion (as of June 25), Facebook needs to find ways to monetize the large amount of information it has on its users. One interesting idea was proposed by NYU Prof. Vasant Dhar - Get Paid for Your Data on Facebook, who suggested that Facebook create the world's first information market.
This market would pay Facebook users for permission to provide information to businesses looking to target their ads.
