Fair Isaac is the preeminent provider of creative analytics that unlock value for businesses and industries. This is an Analytic Science modeler's position located in San Diego office. The position involves modeling duties in product development and operational areas of healthcare analytics.

Job Responsibilities: Design and implement innovative solutions to a wide variety of technical problems in the healthcare industry (Medicare, State Medicaid and Commercial Healthcare) using data mining techniques, statistics, pattern recognition and predictive modeling (neural networks and other statistical models). Contribute to all phases of model development including data analysis and understanding, solution design, pattern identification and feature extraction, feature (variable) selection, experimenting with different algorithms and modeling techniques, model training, performance analysis and presentation of results. The position also involves communication with internal and external clients, participation in pre-sales efforts, providing post-implementation support, interfacing with clients and occasional travel, as needed. The person may work independently or in teams, depending on the size of the project.

Minimum Qualifications: Must have 2-5 years industry/academic experience in employing mathematical/statistical modeling, pattern recognition, or data mining/data analysis on real world problems. Good programming skills and knowledge of Java or other OOP. Strong problem solving skills and analytical ability.

Preferred Qualifications: Any clinical experience, experience in healthcare services research and/or dealing with healthcare data is a definite plus. Excellent communication skills. A statistical thinker and quick learner. Team oriented and at the same time has the ability to work independently with minimum direction. Experience in handling large data sets.

Education: MS or PhD, Applied Statistics/Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering or related fields. B.S. requires 4-6 years of experience.

Percentage of Travel: 10
