Subject: Champaign, IL, USA: Research Programmer - Machine Learning Analyst at National Center for Supercomputing Applications at UIUC

The National Center for Supercomputing Applications at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign has one Research Programmer (Specializing as a Machine Learning Analyst) position available. This position will be responsible for the design and implementation of algorithms for the classification and mining of structured and unstructured data streams. This includes: using supervised and unsupervised machine learning techniques to find patterns and relationships in the data, classification, clustering, detection of anomalies, information indexing and retrieval, and data visualization and summarization.

Qualifications:

  • MS degree in computer science or engineering required. Alternative degree fields will be considered/accepted if accompanied by equivalent experience (depending on nature and depth of experience as it relates to current NCSA technologies).
  • Experience in machine learning techniques, software support and development and a strong working knowledge of various programming platforms (Java, C, C++, Python, Perl, etc�).
  • Experience in one or more of the following: data mining, data fusion, data stream processing, information retrieval, artificial intelligence, machine learning, statistical methods, distributed databases, knowledge management/representation/discovery and/or pattern recognition.
  • Experience with Object Oriented/J2EE development/design, XML databases, n-tiered applications and cross system integration
  • Working knowledge of version control software for software development.
  • Experience writing unit tests and complete source code documentation.

This is an academic professional position at NCSA and is a 12-month, 100%-time appointment with regular University benefits. Salary commensurate with experience. Starting date as soon as possible after the closing date of the search.
