PricewaterhouseCoopers The PwC Center for Advanced Research (CAR) seeks an outstanding data mining specialist for a groundbreaking R&D project. CAR is a technology research and development organization charged with creating competitive advantage for the firm by applying advanced technology and thinking to important practice problems. Located in the heart of Silicon Valley, CAR employs researchers, developers, SMEs and practice professionals that are curious, eager to learn, passionate about their ideas, accepting of criticism and suggestions, and willing to constructively confront difficult problems and situations in order to provide dramatic innovation.

The successful candidate will develop data mining and machine learning algorithms and apply them to analyze accounting data. These algorithms will be incorporated into a larger software prototype for a cutting edge R&D project in its early start up phases. Your creativity and innovation will be key to the creation of a successful data analysis and visualization product.

Responsibilities:

  • Designs, implements, and evaluates data mining algorithms
  • Works with the research team to integrate these algorithms into a larger system
  • Prepares data for analysis including loading, cleaning, and normalization
  • Participates in brainstorming sessions to generate new research ideas
  • Follows software development best practices
  • Reviews and contribute to user documentation
Job Requirements:
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in data analysis
  • MS in Computer Science, Statistics, or related field
  • Experience with Matlab, R, and other statistical programming tools
  • Experience with probabilistic models, clustering, time-series analysis, text mining
  • Strong programming skills
  • Willing to follow group coding standards and design
  • Ability to create well-modularized, maintainable software
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills
  • Familiarity with Agile Software Development a plus
Ability to function independently and as part of a team under aggressive deadlines in a fast-paced environment, convey a strong professional image, exhibit interest and positive attitude toward all assigned work, and strive for continued improvement. The successful candidate will enjoy the risk and opportunity of advanced technology development.

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in computer science or equivalent.
  • Advanced degree highly desirable.
Travel Requirements: 0-20%
