KXEN Joins Exclusive Club with Announcement of PMML Compliance for KXEN Analytic Framework

San Francisco, October 07, 2002 ... KXEN, the global analytic software company that provides powerful, predictive and descriptive data modeling technology for both data mining professionals and business decision makers, today announced that it had joined The Data Mining Group (DMG), an independent, vendor-led group which develops data mining standards.

Further, KXEN's Analytic Framework is now compliant with the Group's current Predictive Modeling Markup Language (PMML) standard. Debuted in 1999 by DMG, PMML is an XML-based language that facilitates the exchange of analytic models between applications involved in data mining processes. DMG's membership includes IBM, KXEN, Oracle, SAS, Microsoft, NCR, Angoss, Magnify, the National Center for Data Mining at the University of Illinois/Chicago, SPSS, Xchange Inc. and MINEit Software Limited. The standard is now on version 2.0.

"The Data Mining Group is doing important work in ensuring that predictive models are built to be compliant with the PMML standard, so these models can be directly deployed in to the many databases that comprise data mining environments, given the availability of PMML interpreters, such as IBM's IntelligentMiner Scoring services," said Roger Haddad, CEO, KXEN. "We're pleased to be supporting DMG's goals through the ongoing enhancement of our products to be PMML compliant and the creation of a soon-to-be released PMML interpreter."

Bob Grossman, spokesperson, DMG and director, National Center for Data Mining at the University of Illinois, Chicago, said that "The adoption of PMML by KXEN is further proof of the ever-broadening base of vendors who recognize the importance of open standards and who are willing to make their offerings conform to this specific, emerging standard. The standard will also benefit from the advanced analytics that KXEN brings to the table, as one of the leading suppliers in this field."

By implementing PMML interpreters across distributed, heterogeneous production environments, companies can connect their various data mining applications, sharing and processing information from relational databases, customer relationship management (CRM) and Internet sources.
