Summary: Working with a talented team of analysts and extensive datasets
covering all aspects of the business, you will act as the principal
investigator for site evaluation models that forecast sales of new
stores. You and the team will maintain and enhance a sophisticated
model of new store sales and use your knowledge to yield robust
findings of high relevance to the business. Using an appreciation of
business issues and customer behavior, you will provide technical and
substantive leadership in the selection of the appropriate statistical
models, research techniques and data sources to improve the accuracy
of the model. You will have the opportunity to test ideas from other
areas of the business and to use model findings to provide additional
insights into the business and to expand understanding of key success
factors.
Specific Job Responsibilities:
- Provide technical and theoretical leadership for global site evaluation models and periodically manage external consultants
- Communicate with appropriate functional areas in order to remain current on strategies that may impact sales
- Using SAS in a UNIX environment, maintain and enhance site evaluation methods and systems
- Create new forecasting and analytic metrics and models as required and provide technical consultation on weekly sales forecasting and daily sales forecasting systems
- Analyze variance from sales forecasts to identify influential factors/activities for improvement
- Refine the sales forecasting process to include additional factors. Keep model parameters up-to-date through periodic re-estimation
- Produce accurate forecasts to enable effective executive decisions
Requirements:
- Advanced Degree required - Ph.D. preferred
- Minimum of six to eight years of forecasting/analytical/modeling experience
- Self-starter with strong communication skills
- Adaptable and flexible player-coach, able to be a leader and a contributing member of a team
- Very strong analytic skills
- Skilled in research design and statistical / econometric / demographic methodologies
