Subject: Palo Alto, CA, USA: Datamining Engineer at traffic information startup

We are looking to hire for someone fulltime who has proven experience processing large data sets. This person will play an integral part in developing our company's latest technology. Currently the company is located in Palo Alto, CA and is integrating accurate, personalized roadway traffic information with a low-cost navigation solution to inform drivers of the quickest route and estimated time of arrival. The services leverage an inexpensive in-vehicle device with GPS to self-generate optimized roadway traffic data from users as "floating car" probes, and patent-pending wireless networking capabilities to minimize wireless communication costs.

Responsibilities:

  • Process large volumes of live and historical vehicular traffic data
  • Define and develop tools to measure data quality
  • Define and develop automated mechanisms to detect and correct data outliers
  • Leverage existing code
Key Requirements
  • Solid statistical background including spatio-temporal analysis, regression techniques and feature selection
  • Deep understanding of data analysis/mining models and how they can be applied in real-life conditions
  • Expert knowledge of C/C++, Java and various scripting programming languages
  • Advanced degree in CS, Civil Engineering or mathematics
Experience, Technical Knowledge and Skills:
  • 5+ years data processing experience
  • Linux embedded systems experience
  • Working experience filtering live high-volume data feeds
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-motivated, detail oriented, thorough and self-directed
  • Team player
