Subject: Post-doc positions in data mining/knowledge discovery at VCU

The aim of this collaborative project is to increase our understanding of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and discover new biomarkers that predict disease progression. To achieve these goals, large (longitudinal) data sets are available where many genotypes, proteins, metabolites are measured together with environmental risk factors and clinical disease indicators. A post-doctoral position in multivariate data mining techniques and knowledge discovery is available to process and extract meaningful information from these large data sets, .

The candidate will be part of a new multi-disciplinary research program for method development in biomarker discovery research at Virginia Commonwealth University funded through grants from NIH, private organizations, and industry. The project is highly collaborative involving other group members plus external partners. The position is two years and offers ample opportunities for publishing articles and career development.
