MSN Marketplaces Operations is looking for a DBA with public Internet datacenter operations experience, deep database background and technical expertise on SQL to troubleshoot complex problems, queries, and strong interest in scripting, automation and ultimately efficiency.

The primary responsibility of this role is to provide impeccable customer experience by maintaining, and pro-actively optimizing (via processes, technology, best practice, documentation and judicious monitoring) our database services; provide technical and operational expertise and work with development and test to insure timely and quality products to be delivered and maintained for our on-line MSN customers. We support Shopping, Entertainment, Expo and more.

This position mixes the understanding of Operating Systems with interacting databases, with a strong emphasis on database. A successful candidate will also need to be able to prioritize in a fast pace and flexible environment.

Qualifications include:

• DBA skills
• Technical expertise is required in Database Engineering of SQL, (Oracle would be a plus)
• Prior experience as a database administrator with concentration in web-site management, failover technologies and replication (mirroring, replication)
• Ability to improve data flow by consistent and quality monitoring
• Detail orientation with a lean to analysis
• Self motivated, passionate about SQL and proactive
• Working Knowledge and success of Database Maintenance, Activity and Problem resolution
• Ability to establish queries, and database mine information
• Programming in C, VB, C# and or Perl, TSQL
• System monitoring
• Understanding of OS as it pertains to SQL (for example disk raid level for SQL performance)
• Passionate about automation (such as automating maintenance jobs and such)
