The Finding Analytics team is responsible for providing analytic support for the eBay Finding Global Cross-Functional Team (GXT), an area of strategic importance for eBay since the company is redesigning the user experience for finding. The analytics team provides support in three main areas: Product Analytics - providing analytic guidance for decisions on new finding-related products that are in development, Search Optimization - optimizing current finding products through analysis, and Finding Innovation Analytics - building on the team's fact base and understanding of the user experience in searching on eBay.

We are currently looking for a Senior Manager, Finding Innovation Analytics to join the team. This individual will utilize their exceptional business judgment, strong analytic skills, and strong presentation skills to identify opportunities to improve the current site experience for buyers. On a day-to-day basis, this individual will partner with Product Management to meet their analytic needs and will lead an analyst team in conducting extensive analyses of eBay's rich data, generating insights, and communicating those insights to Product Management to guide the project roadmap. In the process, this person will develop a deep understanding of the Marketplaces businesses and eBay site functionality, further strengthen their analytic, leadership, and presentation skills, and gain exposure to a wide variety of functional teams within eBay.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead Finding Innovation Analytics Team

  • Structure, guide, and refine analysis from Finding Innovation Analytics Team in order to generate insights
  • Work with analysts to build strong communication and presentation skills
  • Independently execute analysis
  • Build and execute workplans based on input from Finding Analytics lead
Build Finding Fact Base
  • Become subject-matter experts in the finding experience on eBay
  • Build out fact base through deep and innovative analysis of eBay's large and rich datasets
  • Compile analysis from other Finding Analytics teams to build comprehensive analytical view of the user experience
  • Drive insights from the fact base to improve the user experience
  • Partner with Product Management to evaluate hypotheses for potential projects to improve the site experience
Provide Overall Finding Analytics Support
  • Work cross-functionally with User Behavior Insights team and Information Management and Delivery teams to provide ad hoc analytic support for senior management
  • Continue to evaluate existing business reporting and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Work cross-functionally to tie Finding Analytics output in to the work from other teams.
Skills required:

The role is data and analytically intensive. Successful candidates will offer a strategic perspective, sound business judgment, deep analytical capabilities, and a collaborative working style. They will possess strong intellectual curiosity, and a passion for achieving practical business impact. Skills in problem definition, rigorous analysis, and recommendation development will also be critical. Successful candidates will have exceptional interpersonal skills, initiative and integrity.

  • Exceptional business judgment and quantitative analytic ability.
  • Strong communication skills and experience distilling and presenting complex quantitative analysis.
  • Strong academic profile with an emphasis on quantitative coursework (e.g., degree in Mathematics/Statistics, Computer Science, Economics, Econometrics or Engineering).
  • Expert Excel, Access and PowerPoint skills; experience with database query tools (e.g., SQL); and a basic understanding of data warehouse architecture are required. Proficiency with statistical analysis tools (e.g., SAS, SPSS) is a plus.
