Subject: San Jose, CA: Research Programmer- Data-Centric at The PwC Center for Advanced Research (CAR)

The PwC Center for Advanced Research (CAR) seeks an outstanding software developer with data base and analytics skills for a groundbreaking R&D project. CAR is a technology research and development organization charged with creating competitive advantage for the firm by applying advanced technology and thinking to important practice problems. The successful candidate will develop database and data mining components and interfaces between different system components. You will be working as part of a dynamic team on a cutting edge R&D project in its early start up phases. Your creativity and innovation will be key to the design and implementation of a successful text and data analysis and visualization product.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with the team to design, implement, document, and evaluate
    • data mining, text analytics and data analysis research software components
    • end-to-end solutions for large scale data and text mining applications/utilities
    • interfaces for document extraction from Lotus Notes
  • Locate and prepare data
  • Develop Lotus Notes applications
  • Attend and contribute to design reviews & code inspections
  • Utilize data mining algorithms, assist with evaluation of their accuracy and efficiency
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions to generate new research ideas
  • Create prototypes to implement novel research ideas
  • Review and contribute to user documentation
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 2 years software development experience
  • BS or equivalent in Computer Science, Data Mining, or related field
  • Skills in building scalable, robust and efficient systems
  • Excellent spoken communication skills
  • .NET development experience a plus
  • Familiarity with Agile Software Development a plus
  • LotusScripting and Lotus Notes application development experience a plus
Ability to function independently and as part of a team under aggressive deadlines in a fast-paced environment, convey a strong professional image, exhibit interest and positive attitude toward all assigned work, and strive for continued improvement. The successful candidate will enjoy the risk and opportunity of advanced technology development.
