Crowdanalytix Contest Description
It is a common practice for companies to define business problems or pain points before gathering and using data to find root-cause of problems and to design, develop and implement solutions that address these problems.
But, what if the data is available? And the company is trying to figure out what to do with the data? Not very uncommon in the age of "Big Data". Wear the company hat on, and a couple of key questions that form the crux of this contest come to our mind
- What business problems can the data help address?
- What business opportunities can the data help identify?
Indian School of Business, one of the premier management institution's in India and rated one among the Top 20 B-Schools in the world for their post graduate programs has initiated a contest as part of their Business Analytics for Data Mining (BADM) course 2012 for students to learn the application of analytics in business environment through building case studies.
In the spirit of mutual learning and sharing, and to give the students a taste of what the real world applications look like, Prof. Galit Shmueli and CrowdANALYTIX would like to bring together the student community and the CrowdANALYTIX community for some competitions. This ideation contest will be the first in a total of 4. The ideation problem is around survey responses by customers on usage of mobile phone in India. Results of this ideation contest will be used to design 3 data mining competitions that will follow.
