Starting in April 2011,
Kaggle
will be hosting the data mining competition with the biggest prize so far - the
$3M Heritage Health Prize.
The Heritage Provider Network (HPN) is a network of affiliated medical groups and physicians that is dedicated to helping solve a critical issue facing the United States: how to improve the quality of healthcare while at the same time decreasing the cost of providing that care.
Heritage launched the $3 million Heritage Health Prize with goal of developing a breakthrough algorithm that uses available patient data, including health records and claims data, to predict and prevent unnecessary hospitalizations. Heritage believes that competition is the best way to achieve the radical breakthroughs and innovations necessary to reform our health care system.
