IGI Global, Hershey, PA, 2011
This is a book about machine learning applications to gene expression based cancer classification (many features but few data instances). Book topics cover feature/gene selection, data classification (single classifiers and classifier ensembles), and classification performance evaluation for small-sample size problems. Each chapter describes one machine learning algorithm and includes: the main idea behind that algorithm, all mathematics necessary for its understanding, algorithm details, pseudo-code and MATLAB code with comments. Despite of its title, all algorithms in the book can also be applied to other than cancer classification problems.
