MIT Sports Analytics Conference MIT Sloan Sports Analytics Conference Launches New Evolution of Sport Initiative to Spotlight Fans

The MIT Sloan Sports Analytics Conference kicks off its fifth year on March 4 and 5, 2011 with the launch of Evolution of Sport (EOS), a new initiative that offers fans a forum to share ideas with the potential of changing the face of sport.

Participants are encouraged to submit a message, idea, or thought that could someday revolutionize some aspect of the sports industry. A panel of conference organizers will evaluate entries based on the innovation, practicality, and presentation of their idea.

Ten finalists will then work with the EOS team to turn their ideas into a 10- to 15-minute presentation that will be recorded live at this year's conference. All finalists will receive complimentary tickets for the two-day event valued at $400.

More than 1,000 participants attended last year's MIT Sloan Sports Analytics Conference held at the Boston Conference and Exhibition Center. This year's event will once again bring together a roster of speakers that will include NFL, MLB, and NBA owners, coaches, industry leaders, and the journalists that follow them. Slated speakers and panelists will include Mark Cuban, owner of the Dallas Mavericks; Jonathan Kraft, president of the Kraft Group; Daryl Morey, general manager of the Houston Rockets (and conference co-chair); Bill Simmons, ESPN columnist; Howie Roseman, general manager of the Philadelphia Eagles; and many more.
