Medical Data Informatics, LLC Expands Database of Publicly Disclosed Healthcare Practitioner Payments. Opens Access to Payment Information Compiled From Pharmaceutical and Medical Device Industries

NEWARK, DE--(Marketwire - 05/17/11) - Medical Data Informatics, LLC has released a searchable database that represents more than 380,000 individual payments by life sciences companies to 275,000 medical doctors and other medical professionals. The Physician Payments Sunshine Provision of the Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act of 2010 mandates that medical device, pharmaceutical and biotech companies begin reporting gifts or payments to healthcare practitioners starting January 1, 2012. The Medical Data Informatics database is compiled from information released by companies publicly reporting payment data in anticipation of the 2012 target.

Currently, the comprehensive Medical Data Informatics database includes more than $1.3 billion in payments and benefits to healthcare providers. Medical Data Informatics updates the database whenever new national public payment data is released by pharmaceutical and medical device companies. The payment data associated with each medical practitioner's profile discloses the reporting company's name, the amount paid, the date, and the reason, such as meals, educational items or speaking fees. The database can be accessed free of charge after user registration at the Medical Data Informatics website.

Customized extracts and reports from the payments database or other data mining solutions are available upon request.
