Webinar March 5: "Consuming BIG Data"
Host: Doug Cogswell, President & CEO of ADVIZOR Solutions
Guest: Mark Sear, Chief Data Scientist, EMC Greenplum UK
Time: March 5, 2012, 8-9 am PT, 11am - 12pm ET
"Big Data" has been getting major coverage by the industry analysts and press recently. In this 45 minute webinar Mark Sear, Chief Data Scientist from EMC Greenplum UK, will discuss the acquisition, indexing, and storage of big data, and Doug Cogswell from ADVIZOR Solutions will share how end-users can consume it. Together they will discuss the full solution spectrum.
The framework for this webinar comes from Wayne Eckerson's (Tech Target) recent breakthrough report on in-memory-data-management,
"In-Memory Analysis: Delivering Insights at the Speed of Thought". This report does an excellent job of creating a framework that positions business intelligence into four different categories:
(1) Reporting Intelligence
(2) Analytical Intelligence
(3) Content Intelligence and
(4) Continuous Intelligence.
Quoting from the report,
"the message behind the BI Framework 2020 is that you can't shoehorn all BI activities into a single architecture or tool set. At the highest level, the two primary BI applications-reporting and analysis-are fundamentally different applications with very different types of users and unique workloads, design frameworks and architectures. Not surprisingly, each application has opposite advantages and disadvantages. Yet, they are interrelated: Analysis leads to reports and reports trigger new questions that lead to the need for additional analysis." Both are critical for making the most out of an investment in big data.
In this webinar we will unpack the interplay between reporting and analytics and demonstrate how in-memory-data-management is enabling speed of thought discovery and analysis through tools that are more interactive, visual, collaborative, and mobile.
The webinar will be followed by a 15 minute Q&A session. Attendees may send their questions in advance to firstname.lastname@example.org.
