The KDD-98 Awards Committee is proud to announce that the votes for "Best Paper" have been tallied and there are clear winners in both categories.

The papers were selected among all KDD-98 plenary papers and were judged on the basis of presentation, relevance, significance and originality of their contribution to the field of KDD. It should be noted that these papers are the best of the best. Acceptance alone to KDD-98 is a considerable achievement: only 68 papers were accepted out of 247 submitted.

Each award carries a commemorative plaque and a check for $1000, sponsored by Knowledge Stream Partners (thanks to Robert van der Hooning).
