Method3, a leader in human capital, RPO, and technology solutions is seeking an experienced Big Data Software Engineer for a large Big4 client in the Irvine, CA area.

Role Overview

The successful candidate(s)
  • Will build and maintain infrastructure and programs to support data collection, ETL and analysis.
  • Will work in a multidisciplinary team to tackle unstructured data processing problems across a diverse range of industries.
  • Actively support client engagements focused on Big Data and Advanced Business Analytics in diverse domains such as product development, marketing research, pricing, public policy, optimization, and risk management.
  • Interface with databases (SQL, NoSQL, HDFS) to extract, transform and load data. Implement algorithms and software needed to perform analyses.
  • Process data in large-scale environments, in Amazon EC2, Storm, Hadoop, Spark. Analyze and model structured data using advanced statistical methods.
  • Build recommendation engines, spam classifiers, sentiment analyzers, classifiers for unstructured and semi-structured data.
  • Cluster large amount of user generated content.

  • Minimum of two (2) years active software development, with a proficiency in Ruby, Python, Java, C++, as well as in analysis (e.g. R, SAS, Matlab) packages.
  • Experience and ability to work in a Unix/Linux environment, proficient in command-line scripting, and in machine learning, natural language processing and/or information retrieval.
  • Ability to implement, maintain, and troubleshoot big data infrastructure, such as distributed processing paradigms, stream processing, and databases, such as Hadoop, Storm, SQL, Solr
  • Strong data extraction and processing, using MapReduce, Pig, and/or Hive preferred.
  • Strong mathematical background with ability to understand algorithms and methods from a mathematical viewpoint and an intuitive viewpoint
  • Knowledgeable with search engines, spam detection, recommendation systems, and/or social networks.
  • Ability to clearly and effectively communicate results and educate others through reports and presentations.
  • Bachelor or higher degree in computer science or related fields is required.
