Position Summary

Adobe is looking for a subject-matter expert and technical leader for the Algorithms and Data Sciences group. There is flexibility to adjust the responsibilities of this role to meet the ideal candidate's strengths and preferences. Our intent is to hire along the spectrum of a (Sr.) Engineering Manager to a Lead Scientist.

The Algorithms and Data Sciences group will help build the web's next generation of products that will allow digital marketers to maximize revenue and expand their brand presence. Adobe Media Optimizer manages nearly $4B (annual) advertising spend for various large advertisers. We have a data platform with petabytes of event & transaction data that is used for algorithmic bidding. This team is a part of a $1 Billion business unit at Adobe that develops the Adobe Marketing Cloud.

  • This person will lead a team of engineers/ research scientists on various projects that include building statistical/machine learning models to predict on-line ad performance, developing statistical models to study online user behavior and identifying key factors that affect these behaviors and exploring methods linking media activity to online transactions.
  • Continue to build/grow this team by attracting, retaining and developing talented engineers / data scientists.
  • Architect ad-targeting models that use advanced statistical and machine learning techniques.
  • Design algorithms that work with large-scale data to forecast and optimize return on online advertising spends for various channels (including search, display, social, mobile).
  • Develop statistical techniques and software to analyze very large datasets (terabytes/petabytes)
  • Collaborate with product management and engineering groups to develop new products and features across the Adobe Digital Marketing Suite.

  • Ideal candidates will have a strong academic background as well as technical skills in areas such as applied statistics, statistical inference, machine learning, data mining, and software development.
  • PhD degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science (Machine Learning), Statistics, Electrical Engineering, Applied Math
  • Prior experience managing and/or mentoring engineers / research scientists.
  • Familiarity working with large, web-scale datasets and "big data" technologies (such as Hadoop, Spark, MapReduce, Hive, Hbase)
  • Deep understanding of statistical modeling/machine learning/ data mining concepts, and a track record solving problems with these methods.
  • Familiar with one or more machine learning or statistics tools such as R, Weka, Matlab etc.
  • Experience with at least one general purpose programming language such as Java, Python, C etc.
  • Knowledge and experience of relational databases and SQL
  • Strong analytical and quantitative problem solving ability.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Must be a strong team player.

  • Candidates who have worked on algorithms for Real-Time Bidding systems at various DSPs strongly preferred.
