The position of Vice President Infrastructure and Chief Data Scientist is an innovator that recognizes data is the engine that drives creativity and solutions. As a leader in healthcare analytics and predictive models, this individual will provide clients with situational analyses, deep insight into areas for improvement in substance dependence treatment, and targets for actionable solutions.

The VP Infrastructure and CDS is responsible for leading:

Data analytics
  • Design, development and implementation of analytical models and analysis of customer claims data, using data mining and statistical tools to demonstrate savings opportunities for potential customers and eligible members for existing customers.
  • Design and implementation of visual data tools that clinical staff can use to better understand and manage enrolled members.
  • Use data mining and statistical tools to provide actionable information that enhances treatment and operational models
  • Assist in new product development and existing product enhancement through analysis of Company claims and treatment data.

  • Design, development and execution of monthly savings reconciliations and clinical data analytics for customer presentation.
  • Design and implementing methods for rapidly providing this information for member and Company management purposes through reports or dashboards.
  • Performing overall analysis of Company's outcomes (savings), including statistical analysis, pre/post analysis, matched pair, etc.

Data systems and architecture
  • Design, development and evolution of the Company's Hadoop based infrastructure to enable monthly and ad hoc analysis to be done in the Hadoop cluster.
  • Design and implementation of the data architecture in line with long-term Company objectives.
  • The automated movement of data between Company systems (analytical and operational) and to third parties and customers as required.

Clinical Information System
  • Management of Company's web based clinical information system, including operationally required development.
  • Design, development and implementation of the next generation web based clinical information system.

Predictive Models
  • Design and implementation of predictive models to enhance operations of the Company based on claims data. Includes, enhancement of existing models and creation/experimentation with new models that enhance current or potential products.

Also responsible for
  • Continued improvement of internal analytic capability and value reporting for Catasys.
  • Ability to lead and perform analyses independently, and locate resources to further company analytic/predictive modeling capability.
  • Design and provide analysis, forecasting and reporting that improves the effectiveness of the planning, execution, and optimization of marketing strategy.
  • Manage the full analytical project lifecycle, from initial client contact to final delivery; including finding innovative solutions when external data is incomplete.
  • Implement analytical solutions using, but not limited to, the following techniques:
    • Predictive statistical model
    • Segmentation analysis
    • Data analysis and mining
    • Comparison to standards, from integrated database


  • Advanced degree and 5 - 10 years of experience developing and using multiple analytic techniques (statistics/data mining/predictive modeling) within a healthcare services organization.
  • Academic background in Applied Mathematics, Statistics or Predictive Modeling, with healthcare business experience.
  • Outstanding knowledge and experience in statistical analysis and applicable analytic tools such as R and SAS is necessary. Expertise in data mining, predictive modeling techniques and corresponding tools required.
  • Experience with Hadoop and MapReduce
  • Knowledge of programing languages necessary to analyze and manipulate data, provide internal reporting and oversee web based clinical systems, which may including Java, Python, Django, Pig, etc.
  • Previous experience analyzing big data and previous experience with medical claims and medical record data is a plus.
  • Solid track record of designing, executing, interpreting and delivering actionable research and reporting is necessary.
  • Ability to lead initiatives with minimal guidance.
  • Possess excellent organizational skills to facilitate the coordination and completion of multiple and varied projects.
