Lecturer in Computing & Informatics (Business Intelligence and Data Mining)

Starting salary from £30,870 - £35,788 per annum with further progression opportunities to £39,107

The Computing and Informatics Group in the School of Design, Engineering and Computing is looking to strengthen its research outputs and teaching capability with the appointment of a further Lecturer in Computing & Informatics (Business Intelligence and Data Mining).

The successful candidate will be expected to make a significant contribution towards our research capacity in the areas of business intelligence, data mining and complex software systems. You will be expected to teach on the undergraduate Computing framework, and to develop a balanced academic profile with strengths in teaching, research and professional practice.

All staff are expected to be research active, and to have a strong and growing research profile, which would fit with the strengths within the academic group. In particular you will be expected to significantly contribute to the ongoing, major INFER European project on the interface between the Computational Intelligence and Software Systems.

You will also be expected to develop a portfolio of internationally excellent research and to participate in curriculum review and development, designing and developing new modules and supervising student projects at all levels.

You will have a PhD in Computing, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computational Intelligence or a closely related field. Relevant industrial experience would also be an advantage as we take our professional focus to be an important aspect of the curriculum.
