ND-GAIN: Data Scientist
Use data science and analytics to help ND-GAIN enhance the world understanding of the urgency to adapt to climate change and other global forces.

The mission of ND-GAIN is to enhance the world's understanding of the urgency for adaptation to climate change and other global forces and for the support needed through private and public investments for developing countries. Come join our efforts to innovate and develop the ND-GAIN Index that has a global and societal impact. The person will also be affiliated with the Interdisciplinary Center for Network Science and Applications (iCeNSA) at Notre Dame.
The Data Scientist for ND-GAIN will be responsible for the data science/analytic component of ND-GAIN Index, which is led by Prof. Nitesh Chawla. The candidate will also be expected to work with affiliated University researchers and faculty, and external stakeholders of ND-GAIN. The candidate will have demonstrable experience in Big Data technologies and analytics, and an interest in working on Big Data problems.
Expertise or experience in one or more of the following areas
- Machine Learning
- Data Mining
- Statistical methods
- Numerical methods
- Experience with database technologies and visualization tools such as Google Charts, D3
- Experience with using node.js, git.
- Understanding of development process, including specification, documentation, and quality assurance
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Masters or PhD degree
