Antwerp: PhD position on Big Data Mining for Customer Analytics
Development of new predictive data mining techniques tailored to big data; and application to a variety of marketing analytics and risk management domains, with a focus on scalability and privacy.
Location: Antwerp, Belgium
Project: An important challenge that we address in this project, is how to analyze huge amounts of granular behavioural data to improve the performance of the resulting predictive data mining models. Current data mining techniques can hardly be applied on such "big data". The project proposal is structured in two parts: (i) the development of new predictive data mining techniques tailored to big data; and (ii) the application thereof in a variety of marketing analytics and risk management domains, with a focus on scalability and privacy.
Profile: We are looking for a highly-motivated, skilled candidate with a background in economics, mathematics or computer science to work on this four year doctoral project (funded by the Fund for National Research - FWO), which should lead to the successful defense of a PhD at the Faculty of Applied Economics at the University of Antwerp. Knowledge of Matlab, R, Python or noSQL is a plus. The position could start as of January 1st 2014, or at a later date.
Supervisor: prof. David Martens (University of Antwerp)
Co-supervisors: prof. Foster Provost (New York University) and prof. Theodoros Evgeniou (INSEAD)
Interested candidates can contact prof. Martens at David.Martens AT uantwerpen.be
