You will work on an exciting project entitled
"Computational Intelligence Platform for Evolving and Robust Predictive Systems (INFER)"
funded by the European Commission within the Marie Curie Industry Academia Partnerships and Pathways (IAPP) scheme. This is a collaborative project between Bournemouth University from the UK, Evonik Industries from Germany and Research & Engineering Centre from Poland.
The INFER project research programme focuses on
pervasively adaptive software systems
for the development of an
open, modular software platform for predictive modelling
applicable in different industries and a
next generation of adaptive soft sensors
for on-line prediction, monitoring and control in the process industry. One of the main goals of the project is the promotion of a paradigm shift from human labour and knowledge intensive processes of building predictive systems to autonomous, evolving complex systems.
You will therefore conduct research in the area of complex learning/adaptive systems at the systems level with a focus on multi-component, multi-level, multi-objective optimisation and mechanisms in the context of learning systems and/or software development methodologies and architectures.
Joining the Computational Intelligence Research Group within the Smart Technology Research Centre you will be primarily based in the School of Design, Engineering & Computing in Bournemouth, UK but will also be required to visit and work with the industrial partners in Germany and Poland which provides an outstanding opportunity to gain a diverse experience of both academic and commercial environments.
You should hold a Doctorate (or have equivalent experience) in computer science, mathematics, physics, engineering, statistics or a similar discipline and have a strong research profile. Additionally you will have excellent programming skills using any or combination of C++, C#, Matlab and/or Java and a good knowledge of database systems like SQL Server or Oracle.
It is essential that you comply with the European Commission regulations regarding funding and eligibility for "Experienced Researchers" on Marie Curie awards as explained in the Job Description.
This post is available as a two year fixed term appointment.
