Academic staff in the domain of databases and data mining

Job description:

• You contribute to the development of high quality computer science education at the University of Antwerp;
• Particularly, you contribute to the research-oriented education in the Msc program on databases;
• You strengthen existing collaborations with other departments within the University of Antwerp and with other universities, related to the Msc in databases specialization;
• The main language of instruction is Dutch;
• You are part of the ADReM research group;
• Your research activities concern the areas of databases and data mining;
• You acquire and manage research funds;
• You will participate in the general academic duties at the level of the department and the University of Antwerp.

• You have a Ph.D. in computer sciences;
• Your research skills are consistent with the policies of the university www.ua.ac.be/onderzoek
• You have (potential) leadership qualities;
• You have international experience;
• You are quality-oriented, creative and collaborative;
• Expertise in data models and/or information retrieval is recommended;
• Experience with databases and data mining and/or with interdisciplinary applications thereof, such as bioinformatics.

• Either a full time position at the level of docent, in temporary employment in the tenure track system for a duration of five years. After this period, a permanent position is offered at the level of hoofddocent, if your performace is favorably assessed based on predetermined and publicly available criteria;
• Or a full time position at the level of hoofddocent (senior lecturer/associate professor) or higher, which in principle leads to a permanent appointment. In case of a first appointment as faculty member, a temporary employment could be offered for a duration of at most three years. After this period, a permanent appointment is offered, if your performance is favorably assessed.
• The expected date of appointment is October 1st, 2012.
