Position Profile:
NICTA's Network Research Group is looking for post-doctoral researchers with experience in user modelling and/or personalisation technologies. Successful candidates will contribute to the research activity at NICTA in alignment with NICTA's objectives.

NICTA (National ICT Australia Ltd) is Australia's Information and Communications Technology Research Centre of Excellence. Our primary goal is to build and deliver excellence in ICT research and commercial outcomes for Australia. NICTA aspires to be one of the world's top ten ICT research centres by 2020. Since NICTA was founded in 2002, it has created five companies, developed a substantial technology and intellectual property portfolio, and continues to supply new talents to the ICT industry through a NICTA-supported PhD program. With 5 laboratories around Australia and over 700 staff, NICTA is the largest organisation in Australia dedicated to ICT research.

Accountability and Associated Responsibilities:

• Achieve the highest international standards of research
• Publish results of research in top tier venues and register them in the NICTA publication system
• Contribute to the management of the Networks Research Group and functions of the Research Laboratory
• Form research synergies with researchers in the Networks Research Group and within other NICTA research groups and business teams
• Contribute to NICTA's standing by participating in international projects, presentations at conferences, attracting high level visitors, and being invited by high quality research institutions
• Contribute to business team projects and interactions with industry
• Participate in supervision and review of PhD and Honours students
• Contribute to the corporate development of NICTA
• Maintain high ethical and performance standards

• PhD qualification in a relevant area of CS, IS, or HCI
• Proven experience in user modelling and/or personalisation technologies
• High quality publications in top tier journals and conferences
• Strong programming skills evidenced by practical systems built
• Willingness to comply with EEO and OH&S standards

• Postdoctoral experience in a university and/or commercial research laboratory
• Knowledge of differential privacy and/or privacy enhanced personalisation
• Proven scientific standing and record of service to research community
• Evidence of working with industry partners and establishing research collaborations
• Understanding of intellectual property and patenting processes
• Evidence of collaborative/team work practices
