The Wharton Customer Analytics Initiative (WCAI) at The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania is seeking candidates for a post-doctoral fellowship. The Customer Analytics Initiative is a multi-disciplinary research initiative focused on the analysis of longitudinal data on individual customers in a wide variety of behavioral domains and industry sectors.
The fellowship will be supported by Mars, Inc., who will provide the fellow with rich and unique data sets which will allow the student to explore problems related to social networks, multi-media consumption, purchase timing, and advertising effectiveness. The fellow will also have regular opportunities to discuss and present their work to staff of MARS Catalyst, an internal MARS research group. Students from data-oriented disciplines such as marketing, information systems, statistics, operations research, and economics are encouraged to apply. Applicants are expected to show outstanding capacity for research as well as excellent communication skills. The fellow will be supervised by Profs. Fader and Bradlow, Co-Directors of WCAI, and will provide the fellow with ample opportunities to work with faculty from across Wharton and the University of Pennsylvania. The position will be affiliated with the Statistics Department, which has an active and lively post-doctoral program. This research fellowship provides full funding without any teaching requirements at a competitive salary for 2-3 years, beginning in Summer 2012.
Applicants must have a Ph.D. (completion by June 30, 2012 is acceptable) from an accredited institution. Interested candidates should submit the following materials: cover letter, curriculum vitae, research statement, selected publications, and three letters of recommendation. Applications should be submitted via our online application system, for which a link can be found under "recruiting" on the statistics department website: statistics.wharton.upenn.edu/.
Please indicate in your cover letter that you are interested in the WCAI position. (All applicants will be considered for both the WCAI position and the more general post-doctoral fellowships in the statistics department.) We will begin reviewing applications after December 31, 2011.
